Historic Athletic Club Moments
Athletic Club is one of only three teams never to have been relegated from La Liga, alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona. Their early dominance in Spanish football is reflected in multiple league and cup titles, including winning the inaugural La Liga season in 1929–30. The club also secured a series of Copa del Rey titles throughout the 20th century, solidifying its position as a domestic powerhouse.
A golden era came during the 1980s, when Athletic Club, under the guidance of Javier Clemente, won back-to-back La Liga titles in 1982–83 and 1983–84. The club also completed the domestic double in 1984 by lifting the Copa del Rey, a feat that remains a highlight of their modern history.
